Buying Online vs. Store
My ride home from work is about 30 minutes. I am an old fashioned kind of girl so I listen to the radio… yes the radio with advertisements and all. I use this 30 minutes to ponder my day and what was good and, yes, what was bad. You see, I work retail. I own my own social occasion store in South Florida. Susan Rose Dresses. While I was thinking over my day this ad comes on for a car manufacturer. Honestly, I cannot remember the manufacturer or the dealership, but the quote went like this…
“Some things can’t be done with an LOL
Or a OMG
Some need to be done IRL”
Well this caught my attention. Of course, first I had to figure out what IRL meant. LOL So, at my next red light, I googled IRL. The meaning - IN REAL LIFE resonated deep within my soul. It was exactly what I had been preaching to all my customers about all day long.
My customers consist of women who are in the market for Social Occasion Dresses. Most of my customers are a Mother of the Bride or Groom, a Grandmother of the Bride or Groom, a step-mother of the bride or groom, a mother of the Bar or Bat Mitzvah, a Bat Mitzvah girl etc. You get the point. Most of my customers are girls or women who are having a very special event in their lives that they need a very special dress for.
So, to be IRL is exactly what is needed to find the dress of their dreams.
The internet is a great place to research, get ideas, dream, but it is DEFINITELY NOT the place to go for YOUR special dress.
Buying a dress for a special occasion needs your attention and your time. It is a necessity to visit a store that employs stylists prepared and willing to assist you in finding your style, your fabric, your color, your budget. You deserve to have a stylist who can guide you into trying on what will make you look your absolute best while allowing you to try on what you think will be best for you. You need a stylist that is willing to listen and spend the time with you to find that special dress.
Finding a dress for that Special Occasion should be an experience! An amazing experience! One that makes you feel good, lifts you up and one that when you leave the store you are so ecstatic that you finally found that perfect dress to “say yes to the dress”.
Fortunately for our store, we are in IRL! The personal interaction is the most important piece to finding the dress of your dreams. How many times do you get to dress up and have all eyes looking at you? Not many… so you need to feel good about your purchase and feel good about how you look.
Ladies, this is not about high pressured sales. This is all about the IRL experience. Put your phones away, and look in the mirror! A mirror the looking glass – presents to you how you look! It does not enhance or distort your look. It is you! If you like the way you look in a mirror then you like the way you look. If you don’t it’s not the dress! Your guests will not be looking through their phones at what your dress looks like, your guests will be looking with their eyes at you! There will be no filters. A good photographer will filter and touch up your pictures but the perfect dress will enhance your happiness of the day! The very old adage – when you look good you feel good. Ladies, it is the IRL image of you at your event – not the touched up pictures using filters.
Come back to IRL for your dress buying. Enjoy your experience and leave the internet for buying impersonal items like socks…
